Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Keisuke Matsuzaka (ranked 4 p4p, 91 weight class) and Paavo Talvela (ranked 1 p4p, 11 weight class). Talvela has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Paavo Talvela acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paavo Talvela!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsuzaka lands with a thumping leg kick.
Matsuzaka swings widly with a right hand
and Talvela counters with a left to the body.
Matsuzaka lunges at Talvela with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Talvela's hand.
Donk. Matsuzaka catches Talvela right on the button with a cross.
Talvela throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Matsuzaka.
Talvela doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Matsuzaka looks to land a right hand but Talvela moved out of range.

Talvela looks to land a combination but Matsuzaka avoids it well.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Matsuzaka, as that shot connected.

Matsuzaka walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Talvela checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Keisuke Matsuzaka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Talvela throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Matsuzaka.
Matsuzaka instigates a clinch.
I was talking to Matsuzaka's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Matsuzaka lands an elbow inside that Talvela shrugs off.
Talvela's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Matsuzaka throws a hook to the side of Talvela's head but Talvela sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Talvela looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Matsuzaka displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Talvela throws out the jab.

Despite the aggression on Talvela's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

and Matsuzaka cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Matsuzaka throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A relieved looking Paavo Talvela thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
