Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Hall (ranked 525 p4p, 1498 weight class) and Olan Zapina (ranked 24 p4p, 59 weight class). Olan Zapina has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Richard Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Olan Zapina!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Hall throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hall throws out a loose jab but Zapina uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hall misses with a right hand
and Hall takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Richard Hall has been cut.
A swing and a miss from Zapina.
An attempted straight right counter from Hall misses the target.
Hall throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hall tries for a takedown but Zapina circles away easily
and Zapina counters with a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zapina bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Zapina lands a head kick. Hall smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Hall is rocked!
Zapina throws a half hearted mid kick.
Oh Hall is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hall misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Zapina.
Zapina looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Zapina lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Hall throws an overhand right that lands on Zapina's shoulder, as Zapina tries to avoid the shot.
Hall seems to have got his legs back now.
Hall rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Zapina counters with a crisp right hand that drops Hall! Zapina lets Hall back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Hall throws a body shot but no joy.
Hall bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Olan Zapina is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hall moves away from the strike by Zapina.
Hall takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Zapina throws a body kick that misses.
Hall looks to land a right hand but Zapina moved out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hall rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Zapina counters with a body kick that stops Hall in his tracks momentarily.
Richard Hall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zapina avoids the body shot from Hall.
Zapina looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Zapina's coach down at Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Zapina's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Zapina slips under a jab.
Zapina misses with a lunging right hand

and Hall counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zapina won't be happy with that.
Hall tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Zapina is trying to escape the position but Hall is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zapina sneaks out the side door and pushes Hall away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zapina throws a body shot but no joy.
Hall uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Zapina.

Zapina looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Hall misses with a straight left.
Hall throws the left hand but Zapina avoids the punch easily.
Hall shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Zapina as he jumps to the side.
Hall misses with an uppercut.
Zapina throws a low kick but it's checked well by Hall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hall takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Zapina lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Hall throws a jab when Zapina was well out of range.
Hall jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hall. Zapina does a little dance to reset his feet.

Zapina cracks Hall with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Zapina has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Hall to stand back up!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Zapina lands a body shot.
Zapina changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
The fighters circle, before Zapina throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Hall's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Zapina lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Olan Zapina!
An out of breath Olan Zapina thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
