Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bo Duran (ranked 7 p4p, 93 weight class) and Jeff Spicoli (ranked 2 p4p, 18 weight class). Spicoli is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Money Buy Drugs. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 21 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bo Duran! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 21 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeff Spicoli! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spicoli moves out of range of the body kick from Duran.
A chopping leg kick lands by Spicoli. Spicoli takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Duran steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Spicoli. Spicoli takes a swing at Duran's ribcage but misses. It looked like Duran was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Spicoli. Spicoli throws a front kick that sends Duran stumbling back into the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Duran tries a head kick but it misses.

That's one minute gone in the round. Duran lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Duran throws a lazy right hand but Spicoli sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Spicoli uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Duran. Duran throws a solid leg kick but Spicoli takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Duran. Duran takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Duran displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Spicoli throws out the jab. An attempted straight right counter from Duran misses the target. Duran on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Spicoli has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Duran scores with a punch to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Duran chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Spicoli can pounce on him.

Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Duran changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Duran lands a really nice looking cross but Spicoli seems unphased.

The fighters circling - Spicoli throws out the jab but it was never going to land. It looked like Duran was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Spicoli. That sent Spicoli stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Spicoli takes one on the button. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Duran moves out of range as Spicoli strikes. Duran was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Duran throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Spicoli flicks out a counter leg kick but Duran steps away. Duran ducks under a wild hook from Spicoli. Duran misses with a straight left. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Bo Duran will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Spicoli takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Spicoli throws a right hand that misses

It looks like Jeff Spicoli has been cut. Spicoli throws a leg kick that is checked and Spicoli is countered with a crisp right hand from Duran that sends him to the canvas! Duran follows him to the mat into side control.
Spicoli is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Duran is looking to take a break and control but Spicoli is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Duran lands an elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Duran trying to control the position but Spicoli is working away. Duran throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Duran misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Duran throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Spicoli has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Duran is working away from the top position though. That's two minutes gone in the round. Duran thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Duran winds up and cracks Spicoli with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Duran takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Duran is controlling the pace.

Duran has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Duran trying to control the position from guard on top but Spicoli is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Spicoli wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duran throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Spicoli works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Spicoli not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Spicoli is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Duran in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Duran trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Duran throws an elbow that misses. Spicoli uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Duran's guard. Nice move by Spicoli! Duran manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Spicoli manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Duran is in close to Spicoli's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spicoli seems keen to control Duran's posture. Duran won't allow Spicoli to sweep him here. Duran is really dominating this fight. We've been told by Duran's head coaches at FIGHT FOUNDERS (CA) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Duran misses the shot to the body. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Duran lands a nice short elbow. Spicoli blocking the ground and pound attempt from Duran. Duran is looking to stall here but Spicoli recovers full guard. Duran working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Spicoli wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Spicoli is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Duran is aware though and is defending well. Duran scoring with punches to the head and body. Bo Duran overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Duran makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Spicoli working for a triangle but Duran defends it easily.

And that's the end of the fight! Bo Duran showed his dominance in that final round. Well Duran has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
