Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zabit Hussein! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thai showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hussein.
Thai scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Hussein fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Thai. Hussein fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Hussein throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Thai has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Hussein throws a lazy right hand but Thai sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Thai throws a nice inside leg kick. Hussein catches Thai with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Thai thumps Hussein with a low kick. Hussein drops Thai with a beautiful combination! Thai stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Hussein is looking for the KO! Thai is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hussein drops Thai with a naaaaasty hook - Thai is in real trouble here! Hussein dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dunes throws an off balance right hand
and Gomes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Gomes tries for a takedown but Dunes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. It seemed like Dunes was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Dunes misses with an uppercut
and Gomes counters with a lovely straight right hand! Gomes closes the distance and pushes Dunes back into the cage. Dunes misses with a punch to the body.
Dunes lands a body punch in the clinch. A right hand to the body from Dunes.
Gomes tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dunes smiles and moves away.
Dunes moves out of range as Gomes strikes. Gomes slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Gomes staying out of range there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dunes lands with a thumping leg kick.
The crowd cheers as Dunes lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gomes doesn't seem phased though. Gomes tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gomes avoids the body shot from Dunes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dunes keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Gomes. Dunes misses the jab. Slugger Dunes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Gomes connects with a crisp jab. Gomes tries to clinch there but Dunes circles away.
Dunes jabs at Gomes's body. Dunes walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Gomes checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Gomes tries to counter with a takedown but Dunes is quick to defend against it. Gomes looks to land a right hand but Dunes moved out of range. Gomes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dunes swats him away and circles back towards the center. Nice uppercut lands for Dunes. That snapped Gomes's head back.

Gomes trying to control the position from guard on top but Dunes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gomes slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Dunes is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Gomes has just dragged him back down to the mat. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Slugger Dunes dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Dunes throws a lazy right hand but Gomes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Dunes. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Dunes scores with a jab. Gomes acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Dunes lets loose with a powerful body kick. Gomes will feel that in the morning. Gomes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dunes. Dunes digs a good body shot into Gomes's ribs. Dunes throws a sloppy head kick and Gomes moves out of range easily. Gomes manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dunes on his heels. He'll look to pass Dunes's guard now, I'm sure. Gomes controlling from the top position. Dunes is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dunes has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Dunes wants to get back to his feet but Gomes is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dunes looks like he's trying to stand up.

Gomes throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Gomes looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Dunes wants to stand up but Gomes is controlling him. Dunes keeping moving, preventing Gomes from controlling successfully.

Dunes wants to stand but Gomes is controlling the position. Gomes slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Slugger Dunes is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Slugger Dunes seems to be getting the better of the standup. Gomes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dunes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gomes somewhat. A little jabbing left from Dunes on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dunes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Gomes defending well as Dunes loads up on a big left hand. A big right from Gomes misses. It seemed like Dunes was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Nice defenses there by Gomes. Gomes clobbers Dunes with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Gomes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dunes as he avoids it easily. Dunes doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Gomes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dunes is fending him off so far but Gomes persists. Nope, Dunes circles away and we're back to standing. Gomes moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromDunes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronaldo Gomes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gomes scores with a jab to the head.

Gomes closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dunes to the mat! Dunes manages to get full guard. Gomes stops Dunes from standing up. Gomes is stalling in the full guard. Ronaldo Gomes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gomes won't allow Dunes to get back to his feet.

Cruz moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Mazzariello lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cruz circles away quickly and effectively. Cruz with a poor takedown and Mazzariello connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Cruz takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Cruz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mazzariello sprawls well. Mazzariello wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cruz gets slowly back to his feet. Cruz dodges the punch combination from Mazzariello.

Cruz seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Mazzariello moves in looking to clinch but Cruz pushes him off. Cruz attempts a counter takedown but Mazzariello avoids it well and moves away. Mazzariello pushes Cruz up against the cage in a clinch. Cruz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Cruz dives in for a single leg takedown but Mazzariello sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Cruz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mazzariello moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Mazzariello with a body punch. A glancing blow. Horrible takedown attempt by Cruz or perhaps it was just good defense by Mazzariello, which made it look bad. Mazzariello scores to the head and body with a nice combination! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Cruz misses with a takedown attempt - Mazzariello sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Mazzariello lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. We've been informed that Mazzariello has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Cruz fails to land the takedown. Cruz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mazzariello but Mazzariello pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darian Cruz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mazzariello takes a swing at Cruz's ribcage but misses. Mazzariello throws a body punch but Cruz moves out of range. Cruz half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Mazzariello stuffs the takedown. Mazzariello tries a quick counter leg kick but Cruz is wise to it.
