And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bimbo Slaissi!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slaissi lets loose with a powerful body kick. Martin will feel that in the morning.
Bimbo Slaissi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martin tries to clinch up
and Slaissi counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Martin moves out of range of the body kick from Slaissi.
Martin seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Martin ducks under a wild hook from Slaissi.
Slaissi pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Martin was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Slaissi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Martin manages to avoid it.

I was talking to Martin's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Martin lands a nice shot to the body.

Slaissi breaks from the clinch.
Slaissi scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Martin doesn't seem bothered though.

Slaissi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Martin.

Martin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Slaissi manages to avoid it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Slaissi lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
It looks like Swole Ricky Martin has been cut.
Martin blocks a head kick by Slaissi.
Martin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Slaissi is trying to counter with his kicks.
Slaissi throws a big shot that misses.
Martin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Slaissi lands a nice shot to the body.

Slaissi dips to his left and cracks Martin with an uppercut!

As Slaissi tries to get set, Martin tries to push him back and clinch up but Slaissi manages to avoid the attempt.

Slaissi throws a lazy right hand but Martin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Slaissi throws a wild body kick that Martin sees coming a mile off.

A slapping body kick lands there for Slaissi.
Slaissi lands a jab to Martin's midsection.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Martin lands with a thumping leg kick.
Slaissi scores with a body shot.

Slaissi lands a big head kick that sends Martin tumbling to the mat! Slaissi takes a step backwards and waves Martin back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Martin tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Slaissi loads up on a big right hand but Martin slips the punch.
Slaissi throws a lazy right hand but Martin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Slaissi jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Martin was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Martin on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

and Slaissi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Martin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Slaissi.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Slaissi cracks Martin with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Martin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Slaissi dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Martin misses with a left hand
and Slaissi counters with a huge left! Martin is in big trouble! He's backing up but Slaissi isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Martin from any more damage. A dominating finish by Slaissi!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bimbo Slaissi!

Bimbo Slaissi decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
