Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Art Bowers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Luke Bowy! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bowers lands the left hand. Bowers misses with a combination
and Bowy counters with a straight right hand. Bowy throws a hook but Bowers avoids it easily. Bowers fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bowy misses with an uppercut
and Bowers counters with a straight right hand. Bowy with a hook. We've been told by Bowers's head coaches at New York Public Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. A jab from Bowers finds it's way through Bowy's defenses.
It looks like Luke Bowy has been cut. Bowers tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Bowy pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Bowers tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Bowy scores with a jab. Bowers acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bowers connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. A big left from Bowy misses. Bowers looks to land a combination but Bowy avoids it well. Bowy ducks under a wild hook from Bowers. Bowy doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Bowy misses with a left hand enabling Bowers to counter with a crisp jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bowers ducks under a wild hook from Bowy. Bowers misses with a double jab.
A nice side step and Bowy releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Bowers misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Bowers moves out of range as Bowy strikes. Bowers swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Bowers displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bowy throws out the jab. Bowers bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Bowy is rocked! Luke Bowy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bowers drops Bowy with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Bowy! Bowers dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Art Bowers!
