Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between DeVon Hampton (ranked 2616 p4p, 1903 weight class) and Stoned Nelson (ranked 386 p4p, 295 weight class). Stoned Nelson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, DeVon Hampton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stoned Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hampton shoots in for a double leg but Nelson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nelson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hampton closes the distance and clinches up with Nelson, looking for a takedown. Hampton pushes Nelson against the cage but Nelson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nelson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Hampton counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nelson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Nelson told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Nelson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hampton throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Nelson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hampton.

Nelson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hampton defends well.
Nelson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Hampton is now in half guard.

Hampton missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Nelson moves into full guard.

Nelson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hampton escapes and throws Nelson's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Nelson tries to improve position but can't.
Hampton wants to control but Nelson is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hampton has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Hampton is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Nelson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Hampton prevents Nelson from getting the reversal.

Hampton lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Nelson hang on?
Nelson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Nelson wants to hold on but Hampton pushes him away.
Hampton pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hampton looking to finish Nelson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Nelson!

Nelson is rocked!
Nelson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hampton lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Nelson! Hampton sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Nelson and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). DeVon Hampton!
DeVon Hampton decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
